Location: Pacific Ocean and Indian Ocean
Event: Tropical Cyclone Season in the South Pacific Ocean begins November 1, 2022 and ends on April 30, 2023. In Malaysia, the monsoon season is often accompanied by continuous rainstorms and flooding in some parts of the country, including Kuala Lumpur. These torrential rains and severe thunderstorms can lead to wide-spread electricity disruptions and water shortages. U.S. citizens in Malaysia are advised to prepare in advance for potential utility disruptions, as outages can last several days.

- Visit the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) Climate Prediction Center for the 2022 Cyclone forecast.
- Visit the Department of State’s Hurricanes, Typhoons, and Cyclones page.
