Ambassador Yun commemorated an agreement between the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and the United Nations to store disaster relief supplies at the UN Humanitarian Response Depot (HRD) in Subang. Also in attendance were UN and Malaysian government officials. The USAID stocks include relief items sufficient to serve 4000 disaster affected households and include tarpaulins for temporary shelter, hygiene kits and water containers for household use, as well as plastic sheeting for flooding assistance. With this agreement, the U.S. joins several other national and international partners, including Australia, Japan, ASEAN, and several international NGOs, in using the strategically located HRD facilities made available to the UN in partnership with the Government of Malaysia.
