The Study of the U.S. Institutes promotes a better understanding of the people, institutions, and culture of the United States among foreign students, teachers, and scholars. Study of the U.S. Institutes (SUSI) brings groups of undergraduate leaders, educators, and scholars from around the world to U.S. Academic Institutions for 5- to 6-week intensive academic residency with integrated educational study tour. Extracurricular cultural and community activities help to broaden the participants’ understanding of U.S. society.
SUSI for Scholars programs are intensive, post-graduate level academic programs for foreign university faculty and other scholars to strengthen curricula and to enhance the quality of teaching about the United States in academic institutions abroad. A total of six institutes will be offered in the following themes in U.S. Studies: Contemporary American Literature, Journalism and Media, Religious Pluralism in the United States, U.S. Culture and Society, U.S. Foreign Policy, and U.S. Political Thought.
SUSI for Secondary Educators programs are intensive, post-graduate level academic programs for dedicated secondary educators the to strengthen curricula and to enhance the quality of teaching about the United States in secondary schools and other academic institutions abroad. Three Institutes for Secondary Educators will be offered, two with a focus on classroom teachers and the third with a focus on administrators, teacher trainers, curriculum developers, textbook writers, and ministry of education officials, among others.
