About 50 undergraduates and faculty from the Sultan Idris Teacher Education University (UPSI) in Tanjung Malim participated in a viewing party of President Barack Obama’s YSEALI Town Hall held November 20, 2015 at Taylor’s University. The viewing party enabled the audience at UPSI to hear the President discuss tough issues, from same-sex marriage to bridging the gap between older and younger generations to the challenges of the TPP (Transpacific Trade Partnership), with 500 youth from all ASEAN countries. Participants in the viewing party were glad to hear the live dialogue and the President’s responses to all questions posed to him. The Sultan Idris Teacher Education University has hosted U.S. Embassy and Fulbright speakers, including U.S. Ambassador Joseph Yun, and experts in the fields of area studies and music. The U.S. Embassy has donated about 200 titles of Americana to the university’s American studies-focused resource center.
