Readout of Secretary Gina M. Raimondo’s Visit with Malaysia Prime Minister Dato’ Sri Ismail Sabri bin Yaakob

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia – Today, U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina M. Raimondo met with Malaysian Prime Minister Dato’ Sri Ismail Sabri bin Yaakob to discuss ways to further improve bilateral relations and deepen U.S.-Malaysia economic ties, including through President Biden’s vision for a new Indo-Pacific economic framework. Secretary Raimondo invited the Prime Minister and the government of Malaysia to collaborate further with the Department of Commerce in areas such as infrastructure, the digital economy, supply chain resiliency, and more. She also raised increasing U.S.-Malaysia cooperation on securing safe and resilient semiconductor and supply chains, collaborating on digital technology, and promoting greater trade and investment between both countries.
