Location: Johor Bahru

The American Citizen Services (ACS) Unit at the U.S. Embassy in Kuala Lumpur will host a U.S. citizen town hall inJohor Bahru on Friday, February 17, 2023, at 1:30PM.  Our team will provide an overview of our consular services for U.S. citizens in Malaysia and conduct a Q&A session.  All attendees must register in advance using the link at the end of this message.

Following the town hall, ACS staff will offer a limited number of passport and notarial appointments for U.S. citizens in Johor.  Please see below for details regarding these services and appointments before requesting your slot.  If demand for appointments exceeds our capacity, appointment slots will be filled on a first come, first served basis.  Please note that all fees for passport and/or notarial services must be paid via banker’s cheque (see Payment of Fees below).

Passport Appointments

Passport appointments at this event will be limited to U.S. citizens required to use the DS-11 passport application form, which must be submitted in person to a Consular Officer.  U.S. citizens eligible to apply with the DS-82 passport application form (most adult applicants) should utilize our passport renewal by mail program.  For more information on passport applications, including criteria for using each application form, required supporting documents, and fees, please see our website: https://my.usembassy.gov/passports/.  We are not accepting Consular Report of Birth Abroad (CRBA) applications at this event.

Notarial Appointments

Payment for notarial seals is per seal.  You must accurately identify the number of seals that you require to ensure your banker’s cheque payment is in the correct amount.  For more information on the notarial services we offer, please see our website: https://my.usembassy.gov/services/notarials/

Payment of Fees

All fees for passport and/or notarial services must be paid via banker’s cheque (in U.S. dollars or Malaysian Ringgit) made out to “U.S. Embassy Kuala Lumpur.”

  • Do not write anything additional on the face of the banker’s cheque (e.g.: name of the applicant).  Our cashier is unable to process modified cheques as valid payment.
  • Please ensure your banker’s cheque is in the exact amount required for the desired consular service.  Do not round up or down.  If your banker’s cheque does not reflect the correct, exact fee, we will not be able to accept it or provide the service.
  • We cannot accept payment in cash or via credit card.
