Message for U.S. Citizens in Malaysia
November 22, 2022
Reminder About Updating Travel Documents for Upcoming Travel Season
With the end of year travel season approaching, the U.S. Embassy in Kuala Lumpur reminds U.S. citizens to make sure that their passports are still valid for travel. Many countries, including Malaysia, require a minimum of six months validity to allow entry, so we recommend you consider renewing your passport soon if its validity is less than six months.
Most adult U.S. citizens renewing their passports in Malaysia are eligible to renew their passports by mail. More information on how to renew your passport, including information on our passport renewal by mail program, can be found on our website.
We also remind citizens to enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) to receive important safety and security messages and make it easier for us to assist you in an emergency.
