Coming Soon: Online Fee Payment for Adult Passport Renewals
Currently, U.S. passport applicants in Malaysia renewing their passports via our mail-in renewal program are required to pay via bank check. We have heard your concerns that this is inconvenient for U.S. citizens without local bank accounts and have been working on a solution.
The Department of State is pleased to announce that U.S. Embassy Kuala Lumpur will soon begin supporting online payment for adult passport renewal fees. Additionally, our designated courier service, Aramex, will begin accepting cash payments for courier fees for the passport renewal by mail program. This means that qualified applicants will no longer need to obtain bank checks at all in order to renew a U.S. passport by mail.
We expect to launch these new payment methods in mid-January 2023. We will send out another announcement when the new payment methods become available, along with specific instructions to help you confirm your eligibility to use our mail-in renewal program.
