Lincoln Corner Kelantan’s English Program Centers on Environmental Protection

On April 18, after Kelantan’s Chief Imam opened the Corner’s English program with remarks about the importance of learning the English language, Fulbright English Teaching Assistants (ETAs) Kiranjit Kaur and Jake Klingensmith, and U.S. English language and leadership trainer Khidar Abdullah engaged about 40 Kelantan secondary school students aged 16-17 (mostly from Islamic schools), in various interactive English reading, speaking and writing exercises. In view of Earth Day on April 22nd, the English sessions focused also on environmental protection—specifically on how trees play a key role in protecting planet earth.  The Corner staff organized an exhibition of library materials associated with both English language and environmental protection and provided audio/visual support, including iPads and Kindle e-readers, for the participants to use.
