On June 22, Fulbright English Language Fellow (ELF) Emily Jones presented a half day English program entitled, “Speak Up in English” at the Lincoln Corner (LC) Melaka to about eighty secondary school students.  Ms. Jones skillfully introduced U.S. geography to the participants by engaging them in a discussion using photos of her life in the U.S.  In another segment of the program, the participants read English dialogues which emphasized expressions of happy, frustrated, grumpy, and excited moods.   Throughout the program, participants interacted with each other using only the English language.  They also had fun presenting short skits in English.  At the program’s conclusion, the students thanked Ms. Jones with a rousing standing ovation.  Participants’ written feedback characterizing the program included adjectives such as “fantabulous”, “fun”, and “zestful.”
