Four Melaka ETAs and their students tour the USNS Mercy (T-AH 19)

A crew member explains to the students about the facilities on board and demonstrates medical assistance to an injured person.

On April 18, 2018, more than 100 students joined their English Teaching Assistants and school teachers aboard the USNS Mercy when the ship arrived at Port Klang in conjunction with Pacific Partnership 2018. USNS Mercy (T-AH 19) is a hospital ship operated by Military Sealift Command, and her crew provides emergency, on-site care for U.S. combatant forces deployed in war or other operations.

The students were briefed on the history of the ship and brought to several sections to observe the world-class operating rooms and facilities on board. They also played with a surgical robot, asked questions and took photos on the flight deck.

ETA Sarah Standford together with her students from SMK Seri Pengkalan pose on the deck before leaving for Melaka.
