All Exchange Programs
The Cultural Affairs Section of the Public Affairs Office of the U.S. Embassy works closely with the other elements of the U.S. Mission, as well as with a wide range of Malaysian public and private organizations to encourage broader understanding of the United States and its relationship with Malaysia through educational exchange.
The following are exchange opportunities facilitated or administered by the U.S Embassy in Kuala Lumpur designed to promote a deeper understanding of the United States.
- The International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP)
The IVLP Program is the U.S. Government’s premier professional exchange program that provides firsthand knowledge about U.S. society, culture, and politics, while cultivating lasting relationships. - Fulbright Exchanges
The Fulbright Program was established in the United States in 1946 and aims to strengthen understanding and communication between the United States and other nations by funding a variety of educational exchanges. - Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI)
To nurture a regional network and strengthen leadership skills among ASEAN youth, the United States Government is pleased to invite Malaysian youth who are between the ages of 18-35 to register as members and be part of the Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI). - Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange Study (YES) Program
The YES Program was established in October 2002, and provides scholarships for high school students from countries with significant Muslim populations to study for one academic year in the U.S. YES students serve as “youth ambassadors” of their home country, promoting mutual understanding by forming lasting relationships with their host families and communities. - Southeast Asia Youth Leadership Program (SEAYLP)
Youth Leadership Programs are designed to advance mutual understanding between the people of the United States and other countries as well as to promote high-quality leadership, civic responsibility, and community engagement among our countries’ future leaders. - Study of the U.S. Institutes (SUSI)
The Study of the U.S. Institutes promotes a better understanding of the people, institutions, and culture of the United States among foreign students, teachers, and scholars. - Service Academy Cadets
Each year, thousands of young men and women compete for admission into United States Service Academies globally and only ten percent are selected due to the highly rigorous admission process. - Other Exchanges
