Anti-Terrorism Contraband Enforcement Team (ATCET) Training

EXBS sponsored a Commodity Identification Training (CIT) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from April 15 to 17, 2019 for 55 participants from Royal Malaysian Customs (RMC). Several other Malaysian agencies supported the training by providing instructors, including the Strategic Trade Secretariat (STS), Royal Malaysian Police (RMP), Science Technology Research Institute for Defense (STRIDE), Pharmaceutical Services Department (PSD), Atomic Energy Licensing Board (AELB) and the Malaysian Communication Multimedia Commission (MCMC). This training targeted new front line officers responsible for identification and monitoring of strategic and dual-use goods. It highlighted methods employed to ship illicit goods to China and the DPRK, as well as responsibilities to enforce Malaysia’s Strategic Trade Act, adhere to UNSCR 1540, and additional applicable UNSCRs.
