Thank you and “Selamat Jalan” ETAs!

Ambassador Lakhdir delivers her speech during the reception.

On October 31, Ambassador Lakhdhir hosted a farewell reception at her residence for 98 Fulbright English Teaching Assistants (ETAs) who have completed a 10-month assignment in various schools across Malaysia. In her remarks, Ambassador Lakhdhir commended the ETAs for their significant contributions toward greater relations between the U.S. and Malaysia and the lifelong impact the ETAs have made on their students and community. Prior to that, the Malaysian-American Commission on Educational Exchange (MACEE) hosted the ETA showcase in Putrajaya where the ETAs displayed books and artworks created by their students throughout their time in Malaysia. The event concluded with a presentation of certificates and performances by students and ETAs. Officials from participating schools, the Ministry of Education, State and District Education offices, and Embassy staff attended the event. Various local print and broadcast media were also present.
