Fourteen Kedah and Perlis ETAs ( English Teaching Assistants) hosted a sports-themed English camp titled, Friendship Olympics in collaboration with the Kedah Public Library on June 17. ETA Amy Mon from SMK Alor Merah organized this English event for 64 energetic Kedah students from 7 secondary schools. Students broke through their initial shyness with a large group Zumba dance session at the start of the day.   After this spirited session, students split into mixed-school teams and created team cheers, engaged in team building activities and engaged in exercises that required students to practice their English language skills. The camp included six sports-themed game stations designed to create competition between teams, but also how to collaborate with their team members to earn points. The last event of the day included a seven part relay race that required each team to work together to complete assigned tasks. After the closing ceremony, students stayed to speak with ETAs in a non-structured setting. All the ETAs enjoyed working with the students from across Kedah! None of this would have been possible without the great help and support from Kedah Public Library.
