Members from the Public Affairs team along with other staff members from the US Embassy, conducted a site visit to SMK Mentakab and SMK Sri Semantan on 28 July 2016.

Both schools are hosting English Teaching Assistants (ETA) and are located in Pahang. The ETAs organized the students, teachers and representatives from the Temerloh District Education Office for this visit. The students participated in a motivational talk presented by an embassy staff, about working hard and staying in school. Topics on scholarships and financial aid were also discussed. The purpose of this session was to encourage students to come out of their comfort zones and strive for excellence.

Embassy staff also participated in classroom observations of lessons conducted by the ETAs, as well as played English learning activities and sang songs. The English lessons showcased the positive effects of how crucial new and innovating teaching methods are used to create a connection with younger learners and it’s positive effects.

The amazing work of English Teaching Assistants further cements the positive impact of public diplomacy goals of the U.S. Embassy K.L.
