On May 7, twenty officers from Sultan Ahmad Shah Maritime Academy (AMSAS) and MMEA headquarters completed their 11-week English proficiency course conducted through the English Language Fellow program. The intensive course covered topics that are relevant to the maritime field such as vocabulary, practice of the English Comprehension Level (ECL) test, etc. During the virtual closing ceremony, the Principal Assistant Director of the Human Resources Division of MMEA, Ms. Joyce Chan, underscored the importance of mastering English language for the officers at MMEA as they rise in the ranks and engage in enforcement operations. The next cohort of this project will commence in October for the new recruits of MMEA officers based in Kuantan, thereby further strengthening security ties between U.S. and Malaysia.
