GEORGETOWN, PENANG – On Monday, February 28th, Deputy Chief Minister II of Penang, YB Prof. Dr. P. Ramasamy and U.S. Ambassador to Malaysia, Brian McFeeters officially opened a new EducationUSA Advising Center within the American Tech Corner at Penang Science Cluster (PSC) at Wisma Yeap Chor Ee, 37, Gat Lebuh Cina.
The center’s opening marks the expansion of EducationUSA’s full range of advising services to Malaysia’s northern region. Despite Covid-19, the United States remains the top destination for international students. In 2020-2021, the United States welcomed over 914,000 international students from over 200 countries. Currently, there are over 5,000 Malaysians studying at U.S. universities at both the undergraduate and postgraduate level.
Ambassador McFeeters commented, “I am proud that we are able to expand our EducationUSA services and resources here in Malaysia! We have an advising centerbased in Kuala Lumpur and a full-time adviser here at the American Tech Corner in Penang who is available to assist you virtually or in person. I hope many students in Penang will take advantage of this new resource to continue their studies – either undergraduate or graduate – in the United States.”
PSC CEO Ooi Peng Ee mentioned, “Penang Science Cluster is glad to host EducationUSA at the American Tech Corner in Penang. EducationUSA will advise students interested in pursuing an enriching education in the US including aspects of living and getting used to the cultural differences in America.”
