On April 24 at the last day of Click! 5.0 Camp in Kota Bharu, Kelantan, Deputy Chief of Mission Edgard Kagan attended the Click! 5.0 Camp as one of the panel judges during the final pitching session. Organized by the Leadership Empowerment and Development Institute (LEAD), Click! Camp is an intensive, educational, interactive and highly impactful 3-day camp which brings together rural and semi-urban students (between the ages 14-16) from high schools, including a few madrasah in Malaysia.

The camp brought together 55 students, 11 Fulbright English Teaching Assistants (ETAs), and 11 Teacher Advisors from Kelantan, Terengganu and Pahang. The theme of Click! 5.0 camp “Building Communities Heroes” is geared towards helping students to think about and be involved in the process of developing an idea into a sustainable business model and then to carry it out in the community.

Throughout the 3-day camp, students in a group of 5 members worked together with the ETAs and Teacher Advisors to develop project ideas, create business prototype and enhance their presentation skills. Learning sessions and activities were conducted by professional trainers and facilitators. At the end of the camp, students are required to develop meaningful projects to solve some of the most critical issues in their respective communities.

Deputy Chief of Mission Kagan presented Certificates of Participation and seed funding to each group for them to carry out their projects for the next two months during the 8-week implementation phase. In his speech, Deputy Chief of Mission Kagan underscored the importance of giving back to the community and encouraged the students to make a difference in their community.
