Click! 5.0 is an intensive, action-packed social entrepreneurship program which aims to equip 150 rural and suburban students with entrepreneurial skills to address social issues in their own communities. Students between the ages of 14-16 from 30 high schools in Perak, Kelantan, Selangor, Perlis, Penang, Kedah, Terengganu, Pahang, and Sabah participated in this year’s Click! Camps, focusing on the theme of “Building Community Heroes.” The camps, organized by the Leadership and Empowerment and Development Institute (LEAD), offered opportunities for participants to work together with Malaysian teachers and Fulbright English Teaching Assistants (ETAs) from America to develop project ideas, create business prototypes, and enhance their public speaking and presentation skills. Professional trainers and facilitators from Malaysia lead the Click! participants in sessions and skill-building activities throughout the camps.
At the end of each camp, participants developed projects to solve some of the most critical issues in their respective communities and received RM200 in seed funding to kick-start their projects. Participants are now implementing their projects, documenting progress and sharing updates on Facebook. After 8-weeks, the project with the most “likes” and the greatest impact on its community will be offered a chance to participate in the Click! Grand Finale in Kuala Lumpur. The Grand Finale will take place on September 6 and 7, where the best team will win full scholarships from Sunway University.
