Celebrating Jazz in Johor Bahru

On May 23, Lincoln Corner Johor organized a Jazz Appreciation Night, a fun-filled evening with a live Jazz concert by U.S. Embassy Officer Mr. Matt Ingeneri in collaboration with Johor Bahru City Council (MBJB) Orchestra.  More than 100 guests from all walks of life were entertained by the two-hour live performance, which was open to the public, at Hutan Bandar, Johor Bahru recreational park.  The event is an initiative of Lincoln Corner Johor to bring jazz music, an American treasure, closer to the community and to commemorate Jazz Appreciation Month.   Lincoln Corner Johor provided materials to enable guests to learn more about jazz as well as the many other resources available at the Lincoln Corner.    .A representative of the Mayor, En. Hazrin Ahmad, Director, Department of Community Development MBJB attended.  Other guests includes MBJB Advisory Board members, students from Universiti Teknologi Mara, and members of the Johor royal family.

Mr. Ingeneri also interacted with 40 high school students in an exclusive Master Class program held at Lincoln Corner Johor, providing the students an opportunity to learn more about music and jazz.  Students from three schools participated in the program, some came with their own guitar simply to learn more how they can be future leaders and continue to pursue their passion in music.
