Over sixty prolific international exchange alumni and Embassy Alumni Coordinators from all 10 ASEAN countries convened in Kuala Lumpur from October 21 to 24, to participate in the ASEAN American Exchange Alumni Workshop. The workshop was a component of the U.S. Embassy in Kuala Lumpur’s alumni outreach efforts and was implemented through a grant to the Malaysian Alumni of American-Exchange Program (MAAP) organization.

The workshop provided a platform for alumni to establish stronger partnerships across borders and develop new project ideas with peers from the ASEAN region. During the workshop, participants were exposed to numerous strategies to help increase program sustainability, including methods to identify right-fit partners, the procedures for proper financial management, and best practices for conducting fundraising. Participants also received information about grants from the U.S. government.

In addition, workshop participants had the opportunity to listen to prominent guest speakers, including Social Activist Syed Azmi Alhabshi, Corporate Citizenship Ambassador for DHL IT Services Giorgio Catucci, Group CEO Junaidah Abdul Aziz and LifeChamp Director Choo Choon Sian.
