Ambassador Yun delivered remarks on the benefits of TPP during a conference organized by the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) and PricewaterhouseCoopers. The conference brought together Malaysian officials and representatives from large Malaysian companies and small businesses to exchange ideas on how best to prepare for the opportunities the free trade agreement will provide. Ambassador Yun’s address outlined the forecasts for the Malaysian economy’s growth and stressed that the agreement’s lower tariffs would benefit consumers and that the labor standards would benefit workers. He said that the United States remained committed to passing TPP and would work closely with Malaysia on the implementation that will enable the country to uphold its obligations under the agreement.
