On Wednesday October 29, Ambassador Joseph Yun visited the newly installed Tapis R offshore oil platform, the hub of the Tapis Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) project off the coast of Terengganu. ExxonMobil and its joint venture partner Petronas are investing $2.5 billion in the project, which seeks to boost oil production from the maturing Tapis field by using alternating water and gas injection technologies.
Ambassador Yun toured the platform, which commenced operations in September, with the Chairman of ExxonMobil Subsidiaries in Malaysia, Mr. See Kok Yew, and company officials.
