On June 26, Ambassador Joseph Yun invited prominent leaders of Malaysian Muslim communities to his residence for an informal discussion on current domestic issues and foreign affairs.  Participants included spiritual leaders, heads of NGOs, and others active in Islamic civil society.  Ambassador Yun refuted many common misconceptions about the United States and its policies, including narratives that paint the United States as anti-Muslim.  The participants engaged the Ambassador on the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement; discussed the current situation in Iraq; and explored ways the United States Embassy can strengthen its relations with Muslim communities.  The Ambassador proposed the meet regularly with this group to deepen the discussion and respond to emerging issues.
