Ambassador Lakhdhir Visits Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Bongor

On August 9, Ambassador Kamala Lakhdhir visited Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Bongor in Baling, Kedah. She was greeted by principal Puan Zur’aiza Abdul Hamid and the entire school community. Students and teachers gathered to welcome Ambassador Lakhdhir in a glorious celebration with traditional kompang, silat and gasing performances marking the historical visit to the school. Puan Zur’aiza is an alumna of the Study of the United States Institutes (SUSI) program for secondary school educators in 2015.

In conjunction with Ambassador Lakhdhir’s visit, the school organized a creative writing workshop for its students conducted by six Fulbright English Teaching Assistants (ETAs) from Kedah. The visit to SMK Bongor was meant to inspire all students to excel in their education. (U.S. Embassy Kuala Lump

First Solar, a Kulim-based American company also sent their representatives to the school during the event. First Solar is looking at potentially “adopting” SMK Bongor as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) program. In conjunction with Ambassador Lakhdhir’s visit, the school organized a creative writing workshop for its students conducted by six Fulbright English Teaching Assistants (ETAs) from Kedah. The visit to SMK Bongor was meant to inspire all students to excel in their education. Bongor is located within the Baling district in Kedah.
