Event: Ongoing Demonstrations near U.S. Embassy Kuala Lumpur
Following the start of the Israel-Hamas conflict, there have been frequent rallies and demonstrations near the U.S. Embassy in Kuala Lumpur. The demonstrations
routinely occur in front of the Menara See Hoy Chan building (374, Jalan Tun Razak) or the Tabung Haji Head Office building (201, Jalan Tun Razak). The U.S. Embassy anticipates these demonstrations will continue in the near term and recommends U.S. citizens be aware and vigilant, monitor local media for updates, avoid affected areas during public gatherings, and exercise caution.
Currently, the U.S. Embassy does not expect these ongoing protests to interrupt regular operations and services. There is no indication at this time that these demonstrations will become violent, but the U.S. Embassy reminds U.S. citizens that the nature of protests can change quickly and with little warning. Please remember that it is illegal for non-Malaysians to participate in demonstrations in Malaysia.
U.S. citizens are urged to enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) to receive security alerts.
